Description

From the co-creator of the groundbreaking television show Twin Peaks comes an exciting adventure series with a unique combination of mystery, heart-pounding action, and the supernatural. Meet your new action-adventure addiction!

Will West is careful to live life under the radar. At his parents' insistence, he's made sure to get mediocre grades and to stay in the middle of the pack on his cross-country team. Then Will slips up, accidentally scoring off the charts on a nationwide exam.

Now Will is being courted by an exclusive prep school . . . and followed by men driving black sedans. When Will suddenly loses his parents, he must flee to the school. There he begins to explore all that he's capable of--physical and mental feats that should be impossible--and learns that his abilities are connected to a struggle between titanic forces that has lasted for millennia.

The quote at the beginning hooked me and I couldn't stop reading.

This book is honestly the most brilliant piece of crap i have ever read. Mark Frost must have been getting the good drugs when he wrote this book, because the plot is so random and bouncing all over the place while at the same time constantly making connections that are extremely well planned .

This book has an amazing plot and storyline. Also, the main character has a very intriguing background that leads him to, (as i quote leecherscreepers) "endure pain to impress this girl". All the characters are well developed and the plot is anything but a train wreck. This is an amazing book and the second one is even better.
  • The sample was interesting; the book is a mess.

I read the sample and thought it was interesting enough to warrant the $3 purchase, but after having finished the book, all I want is my money back. The plot is thin, the attempt at hip teen lingo is painful, and the characters are shallow and two-dimensional. Worst part of the book has to be its treatment of girls. The main character has a stupid, hyper masculine, "I won't grieve, and I'll bear this pain to impress this girl!" mentality. The author also tries to include way too much stuff into one series. There are angels, there's magic, a fancy boarding school with high-tech equipment, but also monsters, shapeshifters, cult rituals, and--and-- You get my point. TL;DR: This book is a train wreck and I advise against reading it.
