Description

Marcus Luttrell, author of the #1 bestseller Lone Survivor, share war stories about true American heroism from himself and other soldiers who bravely fought alongside him.
Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell returned from his star-crossed mission in Afghanistan with his bones shattered and his heart broken. So many had given their lives to save him -- and he would have readily done the same for them. As he recuperated, he wondered why he and others, from America's founding to today, had been willing to sacrifice everything-including themselves-for the sake of family, nation, and freedom.

In Service, we follow Marcus Luttrell to Iraq, where he returns to the battlefield as a member of SEAL Team 5 to help take on the most dangerous city in the world: Ramadi, the capital of war-torn Al Anbar Province. There, in six months of high-intensity urban combat, he would be part of what has been called the greatest victory in the history of U.S. Special Operations forces. We also return to Afghanistan and Operation Redwing, where Luttrell offers powerful new details about his miraculous rescue. Throughout, he reflects on what it really means to take on a higher calling, about the men he's seen lose their lives for their country, and the legacy of those who came and bled before.

A thrilling war story, Service is also a profoundly moving tribute to the warrior brotherhood, to the belief that nobody goes it alone, and no one will be left behind.

Marcus does a great job telling the stories of True American Hero's, and things you didn't hear on the mainstream media. Great job.

I found this book from much more compelling than his first. It is book that captures all the other phases he has gone through and includes the other branches of the service and it's members that touched his life. This is book helps continue the healing process by identifying those who serve and honoring them.

I loved his first book, Lone Survivor, this is a great sequel to that which continues to speak about his experiences in the Navy SEALS. Before reading this book you should go read The Lone Survivor to understand his story and where he comes from. This book, like the other puts you on the battlefield with marcus and his team mates and gives you a first hand account of what is going on over there on the other side of the globe. After reading this book and Lone Survivor I was motivated to watch some videos of Marcus speaking publicly about his story, I do want to go see him speak as well as see his movie. I recommend this book to any reader looking for a good dramatic action filled reading and to any reader who has read Lone Survivor.

This is a great book. I also read Lone Survivor, which is also very riveting. This shows a side of the military most if us don't realize or don't think about. We owe our servicemen great honor for what they do for us!

This man is a true American hero. I am grateful for his service and his willingness to express from his heart his experiences. Reading his books gives one hope for America in a time when it seems that freedom is taken for granted and we have lost our way as a country. May God Bless Marcus and thank you for your service and your great books.

An amazing narrative of the true meaning of a Patriot. Through out history so many people have proudly answered our great country's call for warriors to stand and fight those desiring harm upon our freedoms. Marcus does a fantastic job of describing his epic life while honoring those who have served before, with, and yet to come. May the sounds of liberty forever ring and may we never forget those who gave so much. Craig Wallace USMC 86-90 Jersey City Fire Dept. Rescue 1

This book was an incredible read. I just finished it after only purchasing days ago. It's sad to read what our troops go through during war but, it's also amazing to see how humble they are such as, Marcus. For anyone that knows someone in the service, or has interest in the service. This is a great prospective of what it's like for the men and women wearing those uniforms, and for their families.

This book hurts my heart to hear the pain suffered by the few who are at the tip of the sword. Godspeed to Morgan and your brothers of the teams. I am inspired to find a niche to continue service after retirement.
