When the luxurious Blue Train arrives at Nice, a guard attempts to wake serene Ruth Kettering from her slumbers. But she will never wake again—for a heavy blow has killed her, disfiguring her features almost beyond recognition. What is more, her precious rubies are missing.

The prime suspect is Ruth’s estranged husband, Derek. Yet Hercule Poirot is not convinced, so he stages an eerie reenactment of the journey, complete with the murderer on board. . . .

Such a great story. Red herrings abound! But leave it to Poirot to arrange them all so neatly at the end. Brilliant! Just brilliant!

Loved this book. Written in a slightly different and more disjointed style than other Agatha Christie books. Highly recommend
  • Another good Christie novel

I really enjoyed this Agatha Christie novel, especially coming from the Big Four where Poirot was up against super villains. There’s a little more depth to some of the characters, like Miss Katherine Grey. I do think I’m getting a little more confident in my Christie whodunnit by paying better attention to clues. Or maybe I’m lucky at guessing? While I was right in who committed the crime, I still really enjoyed the book and all of the different twists. And I didn’t know exactly how they did it until Poirot explained his methods at the end. Definitely enjoyed this one and worth a read!
