One Tough Cowboy

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it. Be warned. This book is for a mature reader. There are many sexual scenes, an attempted rape and foul language. The chemistry between the two protagonists was blazing hot. The banter between the two was funny and provocative. Hunter is a sheriff who is investigating the death of three people. One of the deaths, is his uncle who was the sheriff and was killed in an apparent hunting accident. The accident was suspicious in nature as the uncle didn't hunt. Samantha (Sam) returned to Deerhaven, California to bury her aunt (who was the third death). Hunter and Sam knew each other from growing up together. Hunter protected Sam when she was younger and constantly getting into mischief before her family moved away. She becomes a police officer for the City of Detroit. She is a very tough lady who wants to see justice for her aunt's death so she takes a leave of absence to investigate the questionable death. She is talked into leaving her position in Detroit and becoming a deputy in Deerhaven. For the rest of the story you will have to read the book to really get an understanding of the plot that apparently will continue in more books in this series. This book was written in a dual POV format. It gives the reader a more in-depth look into the characters. You will be able to understand the characters in how they feel and just basically come together in their relationship and how it evolved. Sam had always looked up to and adored Hunter from childhood. These two overcome a great deal of action and suspense in this book while their relationship comes together pretty quickly. I loved this book and the depth and intense action that just kept me glued to my e-reader which was smokin' in places. I look forward to more of this series and hope that several of the secondary characters get a chance at a HEA!!

Loved the back story of Sam and Hunter as kids growing up...her trying to scare his girlfriends away because of her crush and him not recognizing the attraction til much later. When they reconnect again after Sam’s aunt dies and she comes back to Deerhaven and sees Hunter again things start happening between them, their chemistry is off the charts, trying to figure out 3 close friends die under mysterious circumstances and how it ties back to her hometown of Detroit... This book will keep you on the edge of your seat with hot sexy times, laughter, suspense, intrigue, conspiracy and sexual violence which could be a trigger for some people.

Exciting journey for two people that were close as children but then life put distance between them. When Sam returns to Deerhaven following a family tragedy, she is put directly back in Hunter’s path. Hunter was her brother’s best friend growing up and she loved him. She was always getting into trouble, the Pixie Pest, as he dubbed her and he would always rescue her. When her family moved away, she left part of her heart behind but didn’t realize it until she returned. Hunter is now the sheriff after spending time in the military. He is just as hot today as he was years ago which has Sam all tied up in knots. Hunter has a real mystery on his hands in town for a suspenseful set of twists and turns. Sam is now a cop in Detroit which allows them to work together putting them in each other’s path. The chemistry these two have is off-the-charts giving us intense sexy encounters. I loved their connection as kids to adulthood. Seeing how they didn’t lose that spark they had which allowed it to glow hotter as adults. The mystery was captivating and intense which kept me guessing.

Sensual!!! Sizzling!!! Two main characters get reacquainted after years apart. Steamy and suspenseful action packed, fast moving romantic suspense. Her Aunt Dottie dies bringing Samantha Ryder, a police detective in Detroit back to the town where she lived for awhile when young. Hunter Steele is the Sheriff in Deerhaven, California. His family runs the Steele Spur Ranch. Three deaths have occurred recently in the town; the mayor’s wife, the former sheriff and a longtime friend of theirs. To Hunter they are all suspicious. The characters are vivid, very colorful, well define, artfully creative and extremely interesting. The plot includes murder,drug running,sex trafficking and terrorists. All these are being run by corrupt officials. There is plenty of tens, drama, thrills & chills adding to the suspense. I volunteered to read One Tough Cowboy. This is book 1 in the Moving Violations series and it features Hunter and Sam. These two are sizzling HOT! These authors did an AMAZING job of being perfectly descriptive. As a couple, Hunter and Sam are powerful and smart with explosive chemistry. The things that were uncovered were shocking and I’m looking forward to unraveling this complicated web. This is not a cliffhanger as far as Hunter and Sam are concerned. Their part of the story is complete but the investigation into what was discovered is ongoing. Every single character in this book had purpose. There are a lot of alpha males in this book that I am hoping get their own stories because they are just begging to be told. The story line was exciting with action that had me on the edge of my seat in suspense. I can’t wait for the next book.

If there is one thing I can always count on from Lora Leigh, it's the heat. Lordy can that woman write sexual tension like no other! Honestly, she can write anything and I'll read it just for that alone. This wasn't exactly what I was expecting. We do have a few cowboys and Hunter does own a ranch, but this was more of a romantic suspense story instead of a cowboy story. Hunter is the sheriff and Sam is a cop from Detroit. She came home for her aunt's funeral and gets embroiled into a scary situation dealing with sex trafficking and terrorists. Hunter and Sam's relationship was the kind where they know they should stay away from each other but their attraction won't let them. You get the impression they never would have gotten together if she hadn't come back home. It at least made sense since Hunter is about 10 years older and only knew her as a kid he protected when they were younger. I was glad to see she didn't continue to treat her as a kid once they saw each other again. Overall, the heat was high and the suspense was intriguing. Bonus, there were some hot eye candy on the side. Maybe we will get a few more books.
