Description

Originally published as an e-book that became a controversial media phenomenon, No More Mr. Nice Guy landed its author, a certified marriage and family therapist, on The O'Reilly Factor and the Rush Limbaugh radio show. Dr. Robert Glover has dubbed the "Nice Guy Syndrome," trying too hard to please others while neglecting one's own needs, thus causing unhappiness and resentfulness. It's no wonder that unfulfilled Nice Guys lash out in frustration at their loved ones, claims Dr. Glover. He explains how they can stop seeking approval and start getting what they want in life, by presenting the information and tools to help them ensure their needs are met, to express their emotions, to have a satisfying sex life, to embrace their masculinity and form meaningful relationships with other men, and to live up to their creative potential.

A book I was apprehensive to read but absolutely needed. The title threw me off at first. I never considered myself as a “Nice Guy”, a chump, or a simp. I’ve been with my fair share of women. I was the captain of my football team in high school, college athlete, bartender, and now an officer in the Marine Corps. I found myself at a point in my marriage where I just wasn’t happy. I started searching for answers to questions like, “how did I get here?” “Why am I sticking around” “Don’t I deserve better than this?” I was wondering if my current marriage was bad karma for the women I wronged in my late teens and early twenties... I started reading this book and felt a connection immediately. The author does an excellent job of peeling back the onion and analyzing the psychological motivations to partner selection. Every man should read this. I’ve gotta believe that almost all men can relate to this on a certain level.

Highly recommend this book even if you feel you are NOT a Nice Guy. There may be something furhter inside the book that pops out that you are doing that could change your perspective on things.

While this is a life changing book, it does not have the complete text. I purchased the audio book to listen to while I read this book (visual plus auditory learning). Don’t let it stop you from purchasing the book as the heart of it is still there and it will still change your life!
  • Useful for introspection

There is much to learn from this book. I learned that individuals either create or select the environments they live in, their environment is rarely forced upon them (excluding children). With this in mind, it becomes the responsibility of the individual to correct themselves in order to correct their environment and the behaviors of those around them.

I would recommend that EVERY guy read this book. It’s a relatively short and an easy read with very entertaining stories and what I believe the best advice you could get as a man. I can’t think of a better way for it to be written. I don’t believe it matters who you are, this book will allow you to understand Nice Guys and will help you identify if you are one, how to fix it. Dr. Glover this book saved my life, I appreciate the time you took to write this and to relate with me through your words on a deeper level than anyone ever has.
