    Enjoyed it. was sure Jodie would be killed so Reacher would continue drift so was surprised by ending

  • Amazing originality and detail but for me, the resolution was a bit of a let down

    Lee Child is a master story teller with location details that put you in the place without needing imagination. The story moves at a pace that is hard to let go of. That said, in my opinion. the amount of amazing detail and time put into describing the evil of the criminals isn’t matched by their ultimate comeuppance. The humiliation, sheer terror and wanton violence imparted by the villains were described in agonizing and blood curdling detail. This seems to have warranted some highly creative retribution. Yes, we know Reacher will ultimately win, but having it play out with what felt like old fashioned shootouts and stand-offs somehow didn’t seem to live up to what preceded Reacher’s vengeance. Brilliantly told and structured but, for me, a somewhat disappointing finale.

    To the reviewer who made an issue with Reacher obsessed with a teenage girl, re-read the. Book. The obsession was when he was a soldier in his early 20’s, she was 15. 10-15 years later they were reacquainted when he father (Reachers former CO) died. It was instant love by each other.

    Story is meh and the persistent return to how attracted Jack was to a teenager dozens of times didn’t leave much room for the mindless enjoyment of the first two books

    Lee Child hit his stride on Reacher no. 3. I hate to critique any creation. I know how easy it is to opine. I don’t know how difficult it is to write a book millions of people love. For me 1 and 2 were ‘likes’. 3 is a ‘love’. Perhaps a bit heavy on the descriptions? But I’m a student of Elmore Leonard who said he’d write it then strip away all the describing. That’s how I lean. Gimme the story. But no shade on Child. What a wonderful teller of tales. He can take a seat right next Leonard and Macdonald and Stark. dorian holley

    A guy successfully living under another name for 40 years is somehow afraid that he’ll be exposed and has to run? He could have just changed his name - end of story. A Child-like staple - people feeding the bad guy information.
