    "Left to Run" is the second book in the Adele Sharp Mysteries series. While I enjoyed the first book, the second had some issues. In the first installment, Detective Sharp partnered with Paris Detective John Renee, whose initially off-putting demeanor proved reliable in tough situations, and their dynamic worked well. In this sequel, Sharp returns to Paris to investigate a serial killer targeting expats for their kidneys. However, due to a rejected romantic advance, Renee requests not to be assigned to the case. Instead, Sharp is paired with Paris Agent Sophie Paige, who harbors resentment towards her for an incident that led to Paige's demotion. This conflict makes the story slow and tiresome in the first half. When Renee finally returns to help, the story picks up but rushes through connections, making them feel unbelievable. Additionally, several editing errors disrupt the reading experience. I appreciate Blake Pierce's writing style and might give the third book in the series a chance or explore another of his mystery series.

    For 2021, the spelling errors are surprisingly frequent and so distracting. This has been in both the books of hers I have read in the last week. Otherwise a good, mindless read.

    It took me a bit to warm up to the main character, but after a while I was hooked. Adele grows on you, the writing is subtle and smooth and before long I found myself totally engaged. I usually read more visceral and graphic stories but this one still kept my interest. The author is very good at keeping the story flowing, the characters are interesting and very real, I’m beginning the 3rd book in the series and plan to continue reading them.

    I really like this series. Wish I could buy them all. The characters, Adele and john and Robert are great. Paige is a witch though.

    There were so many mistakes and dragging…. Nd it was so illogical in the end…. A trained military man can’t be just sleeping like tht while she clearly shouted many times…. Just for the sake of showing her heroic suffering, the writer just vanished her partner…. Missing even after 2 gun shots…. It was better if the writer had shown him tranquilized by the culprit…. ‘She’ handled it herself any way😒
