Description

Queen of Suspense and #1 New York Times bestselling writer Mary Higgins Clark brilliantly weaves the mystery of twin telepathy into a mother’s search for a kidnapped child, presumed dead in this “riveting…suspense thriller [that] is certain to send terror into the heart of any parent” (Publishers Weekly).

Hours after throwing a third birthday party for their twins Kathy and Kelly in their Connecticut home, Margaret and Steve Frawley return home from a dinner in New York to discover the police in the house, their daughters missing, and an eight million dollar ransom note. The Frawleys meet the kidnapper’s demands, but the abandoned car they’re led to contains only Kelly, the body of the driver, and a suicide note, saying he had inadvertently killed Kathy and dumped her body in the ocean.

At the private memorial Mass for Kathy, Kelly tugs Margaret’s arm and says that her sister Kathy “wants to come home right now.” More unexplainable occurrences indicate that Kelly is in touch with Kathy, but no one except Margaret believes that Kathy is still alive. As Kelly’s warnings become increasingly specific and alarming, however, FBI agents set out on a search for the kidnappers as Kathy’s life hangs by a thread.

Delving into the well-documented but still unexplained phenomenon of twin telepathy, worldwide #1 bestseller Mary Higgins Clark takes us deep into the minds of her characters while lifting us to the heights of suspense.

Mary Higgins Clark delivers a gripping, enjoyable mystery in the tradition of Where Are the Children, her excellent debut, with this suspenseful treat! When the parents of a pair of three-year-old twin girls return from a night out to find the babysitter unconscious and the two children missing, they are terrified. Relief is mingled with despair when only one of the girls is rescued. The mother finds renewed hope, however, when something her daughter says causes her to realize that the two children share a psychic link, meaning that the other girl is probably still alive. Can she be rescued in time? Find out in this chilling, intriguing mystery!

This was the best book ever a thrilling end and I was so upset when I found out that Kathy could be dead in the car and it was soooo amazing when Steve saved Kathy by punching the window. I never would have thought Norman killed his wife and that's how he got the ring, also it's unbelievable that he got hit by a truck. I x Can't wait to read more Mary Higgins Clark books like Where are the children

Chilling. Very chilling. Tight plot line, good twists. The connection between twins is special and more research needs to happen.
  • Pretty good, but not a page turner

This book was entertaining, and I would recommend it, but it wasn't the type that you can't put down. In fact, I put it down so much that I was starting to forget the characters. I did enjoy it, though, and I think I will give this author another try.
