Description

A deadly attack.
A stolen weapon capable of immense destruction.
A painful secret that threatens to tear two hearts apart.

CGIS Agent Noah Rowley is rocked to the core when several of his valued team members come under fire on his Coast Guard base. He and his remaining team race to the scene and end the attack, but not before innocent lives are lost. Furious and grief-stricken, he vows to do whatever is needed to bring the mastermind behind the attack to justice.

Stunned by the ambush, Coast Guard flight medic Brooke Kesler evacuates in a helicopter carrying the only surviving gunman. The gravely wounded man whispers mysterious information to Brooke that immediately paints a target on her back.

As Brooke and Noah race to uncover answers, emotions between them ignite. Noah struggles to protect Brooke at all costs and to conceal the secret that prevents him from becoming what he longs to be--the right man for her.

Everything is at stake as a horrifying truth emerges. . . .

The attack wasn't the end game. It was only the beginning.

  • RIVETING FROM THE FIRST SCENE TO THE LAST!

Award-winning author, Dani Pettrey, is known for her fast-paced romantic suspense books. The Deadly Shallows (Coastal Guardians Book #3) exemplifies this as it is riveting from the first scene to the last! Be prepared to block off time to read because you will want to immerse yourself in this story. Pettrey brings back characters that readers know and have grown to love from previous books in the series. These characters are members of the Coast Guard Investigative Service (CGIS) and are realistic, and relatable, and readers have grown to appreciate them, flaws and all. Pettrey has allowed the characters to struggle in their personal lives and has she shown how they overcome adversity. She displays their growth when a mass shooting occurs on the Coast Guard base and they immediately rally into action each using their unique gift set to meet the needs around them. What I liked most about this book is that Pettrey shows the importance of teamwork, loyalty, and the trust they feel towards each other. When Coast Guard flight medic Brooke Kesler finds herself treating one of the attackers, he whispers one word to her that puts her life in imminent danger. It will be up to the team to keep her safe while also solving the crime. Pettrey’s strategic use of romance helps cement her characters and her plot together. The suspense element makes all Pettrey stories feel intensely real as if readers are experiencing the action instead of merely reading about it. The Deadly Shallows will not disappoint as it is riveting from the first scene to the last! I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by Bethany House Publishers & NetGalley. The opinions expressed here are completely my own and without influence.

Please, Lord. Carry me - Brooke was sure she could not do this on her own! A very determined killer with even more dedicated law enforcement creates an incredible story that will keep you breathless at times. The sheer number of deaths almost makes you wonder if those who stand for the right will even survive! Add several fascinating mysteries to the mix and you have a story that can only have been written by this fabulous author. Toxic dumping, laser weapons, abductions and more - do they all link together? Is there one big kahuna that is pulling all the strings to these mysteries? The romance element allows the reader a breath or two during this edge of your seat thriller. An early copy of Coastal Guardians Book 3 was received through Bethany House Publishers, Baker Publishing Group and NetGalley. These comments and impressions are my own and were in no way solicited.
