The official playscript of the original West End production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn't much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

The playscript for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was originally released as a 'special rehearsal edition' alongside the opening of Jack Thorne's play in London's West End in summer 2016. Based on an original story by J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany and Jack Thorne, the play opened to rapturous reviews from theatregoers and critics alike, while the official playscript became an immediate global bestseller.

This definitive and final playscript updates the 'special rehearsal edition' with the conclusive and final dialogue from the play, which has subtly changed since its rehearsals, as well as a conversation piece between director John Tiffany and writer Jack Thorne, who share stories and insights about reading playscripts. This edition also includes useful background information including the Potter family tree and a timeline of events from the Wizarding World prior to the beginning of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

  • I think it was a good idea JK Rowling made a 8th or 9th book!

By Tyler Omega fan of Harry!
It was a long time that I watch Harry Potter! I watched Harry Potter and I still want to watch again! I love the Chosen one that has 2 good friends! And I love the ending of the “Harry Potter Deathly Hallows: Part 2” they like lived happy ever after it was like “19” years later then Ginny and Harry are Parents and then Ron and Hermione are parents too
  • I would give this 0 stars!!!!😞

Seriously??? This is not written by JK Rowling!!! If I knew the 8th book was going to be like this I would have told Rowling that the 7th book ended perfectly and that I did not want anymore Harry,Ron or Hermione! I have to say I liked how she ended the last book with a very happy ending every good character like Harry deserves, but I still craved more Harry, Ron and Hermione!!This book is non sense if you are a real fan of HP you will agree with me and know this book does not belong in the Harry Potter series! If this is what JK Rowling wants to give to her fans,I DO NOT want to be a fan of JK Rowling’s anymore!!!!😠😡
  • Ish maybe.... not the best

I didn’t honestly love this book. It was too much of a fan book you know to much into the past and confusing of what’s happening. I didn’t like it especially with Voldemort’s daughter and going back to when Harry’s parents die. :/ I didn’t like the time turner business and the Hogwarts express’s trolley lady. I was just like: what the heck? So yeah.... no offense I love your others books but this one is like ehhhhhhhhhhh...... please don’t read this book. It will truly disappoint.

I didn’t read the book I watched all the movies when I was younger then I started reading the books.. LOVED IT! But I didn’t read this one and I already see one of the reviews this person calling the author by her name as if he or she knows her. Have some respect don’t be that harsh. Also u don’t have to say it’s terrible or unreasonable just say some problems or add suggestions. Not a full on opinion essay on how much you hate the book. Honestly I’m happy there’s another book. And I don’t judge that easily that’s what makes me a bad judge I can’t be mean. And right now honestly if it is bad I’ll still live the book.
  • Horrible decision

JK specifically says the time turners were her biggest mistake, then someone writes a bad fan fiction with them.
  • I liked it

So many bad reviews out there! I liked it! It was a little strange about the new characters. I thought it was fine. So many haters out there.
  • I’m disappointed in you JK Rowling

This is trash 😡 I would be just as happy IF this were a normal book....Scorpius becoming king? Harry dying just because of time travel?! This is horrible! If JK wanted to make a 8th would be better if it was NOT a play. Now about the story....Look here I like the part about Delphi and Harry dulling but....Voldy and bellytrix (Voldemort and bellatrix) having a child?! Really Joanna Rowling? (JK) I never thought you would write a play book! Who would want to read a playbook? I’m so disappointed in you Rowling! I would have reread this book more often than this, ☹️ you dissatisfy me Rowling! (Please please please write a more liking book next time you write one!)

Look, I am a huge Harry Potter fan. Harry Potter was my childhood. But even though I hungered for another peek into Harry's adventures after I read the series, I decided that the series should have been done. It was the best series ever, and I loved it, but nothing can last forever. You can't have too much of a good thing, Horace Slughorn quote. And this book was a pathetic excuse to reinvigorate fans. I thought the epilogue at the end of the seventh Harry Potter book was awesome. It covered their children and where they are now. Didn't need more than that. I preferred to leave off the series with Harry's family happy and peaceful, not diving into another adventure. Long story short: This book was UNNECESSARY and I am surprised J.K. Rowling authorized it. I didn't buy HALF of the stuff they put in the book. It doesn't make sense. We KNEW Voldemort never loved anyone. And suddenly he was upset when Bellatrix died? They had a child? Please. All of the Ministry Time-Turners WEREN'T destroyed? Didn't it EXPRESSLY say in the book that they WERE? Cedric Diggory, a happy, good-boy Hufflepuff turns into a DEATH EATER just out of frustration at not winning a tournament? No. No. Just no. I don't WANT an #8 book, but especially one that CONTRADICTS practically everything in the previous books. That was NOT the Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Ginny, or Draco I knew. Who wrote this book? Did they even read the previous books? Did they just want money?
