Description

A sexy stand alone enemies-to-lovers romance by USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde…

I spent six weeks screwing Austin Wright’s brains out and all I got was this broken heart.

He can’t be trusted. Not with my body or my heart. Yet, two years have passed and I still crave him like an addict needing a fix.

The last time we tried this, it nearly ruined me. I know I should run and never look back. But his dark haunted eyes and razor blade smile speak to my soul. His touch sets my body on fire. And we all know what happens when you light gasoline. Someone is bound to get burned.

A second chance might destroy us both.

Because everyone knows two wrongs don’t make a Wright.

This book was very inspirational in showing how Austin was able to deal with the blame he placed on himself and his drinking problem. Truly enjoying this series of books.

This is the first book I've read by K.A. Linde. That said, even though this is NOT the first Wright book, it can be read as a standalone. This book does deal with some serious issues, alcoholism and domestic abuse, but it's not the entire focus of this book. The road to Julia and Austin's romance is definitely a rocky one to say the least. Austin has alcohol issues and Julia has a major secret. It was interesting to watch the interplay between these two and their friends and family just added to everything. Julia needs to come clean with her secrets and Austin needs to face his issues. Things do come to a head and reading the ensuing results had me eager for the final results. The Wright Mistake was a book I really enjoyed. I think I need to go check out the past Wright books now.

I knew Austin's story was going to be completely different from the other Wright stories. And I wasn't wrong or disappointed. I love second chance romances and I loved this story. The growth the characters have to go through to get to the end is not without up, downs, and heartache. K.A. Linde made her characters real and relatable.

4.5 stars for - The Wright Mistake - by K.A. Linde. This is the third book about the Wright family siblings and the one I have been looking forward to the most since it was all about Austin. Each story about the Wright family can stand alone, but I truly feel you get to know and love the characters more if you start at the beginning with - The Wright Brother - Jensen's book and then - The Wright Boss - Landon's book. While this is not your typical light and easy enemies-to-lovers romance as it deals with the heavy emotional / psychological issues of addiction and domestic abuse it is a beautiful love story that you won't want to miss. Julia Banner moved to Lubbock from Ohio to become the head of human resources for Wright Construction. While her professional life is exactly where she wants it to be her personal life is sorely lacking after another failed relationship. Julia has already made the mistake of dating Austin Wright once and now she can't seem to be in the same room as him without wanting to inflict bodily harm. The only problem is she is just as attracted to him physically as she was when they were dating. Austin Wright had no plans to change his lifestyle until he is informed that he is going to miss out on a promotion due to his partying. Austin not only lost a job, but he also lost Julia because of his drinking. He decides to change his partying ways and see if he can win back the girl that he has never forgotten about and make his family believe in him. This book was filled with so many emotional feels and all the angst you expect from a Linde romance. From start to finish you are hoping/praying that these two can get it together and find that happily ever after all while sabotaging themselves along the way. Absolutely loved Austin on his path to self discovery and can't wait to read more about him in the future. Big sister Morgan's book is up next and I'm hoping she has a few secrets to share :)

The Wright books just keep getting better and better. This latest installment follows hard partying, walking good time Austin Wright. He's the Wright brother always up for fun and never turns down a drink or a woman. There is so much more to him though and KA Linde really takes you inside his head to see why he is like this and how he truly does want to be better. His support comes in talented and beautiful Julia Banner. The chemistry between them is hot and sizzles on each page. You also get to see more of the Wright family. There are some funny scenes between all of them, but also some really touching ones as an unexpected tragedy strikes and the family and friends rally around one another. Absolutely loved this book and cannot wait for the next one.
  • Austin’s story, with all its heartbreak and affirmation

If K. A. Linde achieves nothing else with this book, she certainly helps you understand the mind of an addict. Austin Wright, who you will recall from The Wright Brother and The Wright Boss, is an alcoholic. His family indulges him, largely because they are too distracted with their own love lives (see Wright, Jensen and Wright, Landon), not to mention the family construction business. They know Austin needs help, but it feels pointless to help someone who doesn't want to help himself. Julia, the head of HR, and Austin shared an intense relationship two years ago that imploded, largely thanks to Austin's poor decisions. Each still has a thing for the other, but Austin needs to adjust his priorities. Alcohol cannot be a part of his life. When he and Julia begin a tentative rapprochement, it is contingent upon Austin not drinking. And here is where K. A. Linde hits the right notes in this book: Austin can't quit drinking for someone else. He can't give up his addiction - his crutch - even though he dearly wishes he could. He wants to be the man Julia believes he can be, but it is not that simple. This is something Austin needs to do for himself. Unfortunately, it is going to take heartbreaking loss, near-loss, shame, and defeat for him to get there. Yes, this book is packed with angst. Yes, Linde is going to make you cry. But there are also some scorching hot sexy times. So never you fear about that because she delivers the quiver. My only quibble with this book is a subplot that is dispensed with fairly simplistically. Juxtaposed next to Austin's struggles, this seems perhaps more glaring than it would have under different circumstances. I have liked Austin since I first met him in Jensen's book, and I am so glad to read his story. As for the Wright sisters, Linde has promised one devoted to Morgan. Sutton, though. You will barrage Linde with demands for Sutton when you finish this book.

Okay, when I read the The Wright Boss, I did fall in love with Jensen the older brother, I enjoyed Landon... but it was always AUSTIN for me. There was something about him, when Kyla announced that she would be giving Austin his own book... I was excited, I literally "fan girl" screamed and jumped up and down in my living room. He's was a hot mess and I was so intrigued that I NEEDED to know more about him.... Boy did I. Austin & Julia have this explosive relationship. They're always pushing each others buttons but have this magnetic/electrifying connection. Little do they know that what really brings them together is how broken they both are and refuse to see it. Each in their own way. You get to learn more about the other brothers and sisters, prepare yourselves. At a point in the book I asked myself.... "that's it, that's the big issue? No way... Kyla wouldn't just..." "Wait, I know I'm not reading this correctly. I must have gotten a bad copy o_O" Nooooooo..... Oh but she did.... I have so many questions, I want to know so much more. You will enjoy this book, but again prepare yourself for some tears of laughter, anger, confusion, heartbreaking tears, more anger, screaming and wanting more of the Wrights! Still this is my FAVORITE book of the Wright Series! ---*Arc provided for an honest review.

Throughout the Wright series, Austin Wright has been the one sibling who doesn't seem to take anything seriously. He's the good time guy who indulges in alcohol and women and more often than not, spends his days and his nights in a constant state of drunkenness. Austin's tolerance for alcohol makes it seem like he has a handle on his drinking, but his family, his friends, and even those readers who have witnessed his actions since the beginning of the series see Austin for who he is - an alcoholic who would rather go through life numb and half lit than acknowledge just how out of control he's allowed his drinking and his life to become. Julia Banner knows a thing or two about bad boys, and her short relationship with Austin Wright and how it ended solidified her need to choose 'safe' guys - ones who wouldn't hurt her because she would never allow them to know the real Julia or to get close enough to break her like the men in her past. But here's the thing about Austin and Julia - because she works for Wright Construction and is good friends with the women who share their lives with the other Wright brothers, Austin and Julia's paths constantly intersect and regardless of how much they fight and how much Julia seems to hate Austin, there's always been a connection between them - one that overpowers rational thought and makes them both yearn for a second chance despite the constant state of turmoil that seems to exist between them and the fact that Austin's drinking is a problem he won't admit. Austin and Julia's journey in The Wright Mistake is volatile and unsteady. Their issues with one another don't begin to describe just how difficult finding their way back to each other will be because that's not the only thing they have to contend with when it comes to making things right. Austin and Julia both have pasts that haven't been truly dealt with and unless they can be open and honest about how past events have shaped them and hash out why there's so much anger and hostility when it comes to their feelings for each other, anything they try to build will implode just like it did before. I have to admit that I had a difficult time getting into this story. I didn't understand Austin and Julia's frame of mind, which made it difficult to figure out why they act and say the things that they do, especially since their back stories weren't provided until further into the story. As the story played out, though, it did start to explain their pasts and how those experiences presently affect them and there are some pretty big reasons for how they both act, which helped me feel better about the story as a whole. The Wright Mistake is an emotional read because there are life changing events that occur that affect more than just Austin and Julia and when those things happen, the dynamics of the Wright siblings as well as those closest to them will be shaken to their core. K. A. Linde does a great job of illustrating the volatile feelings that are at play between Austin and Julia for much of their story. There is not an easy fix for what Austin broke between them and while he wants to change and be a better man for Julia, he still has to acknowledge his problem with drinking because without him admitting his issue, the alcohol controls his actions not himself. The Wright siblings are forever changed with the decisions that are made and the unforeseen situations that they experience, and while everything that happens seems to make them closer, it also shows them exactly how cruel life can be and how short the time is they have with those they love, so they better make it count. 4 Poison Apples (The Fairest of All Book Reviews)
  • Heartbreaking love story

I have loved each of the Wright brothers books, but Austin and Julia's story took things to a whole other emotional level for me. I absolutely loved this story. I have dealt with alcohol addiction in my family and I knew that Austin's story was going to get to me on a whole other level. This story was so heart felt and so true to what an addict goes through. Julia is such a strong woman with all that she has faced and is strong enough to say, I can't go through this, you need help. I will admit, I was curious to see how I'd feel about Austin after reading his story because I haven't liked him much. This story will give you all of the feels. The Wright family is a great family and I love that they are all there for each other. I truly hope that we have 2 more books coming with this family. Great read!
